description:

artists ÙÚ wilderness ÙÚ connection

Sometimes the rarer, the beautiful can only emerge or survive in isolation. In a similar manner some degree of withdrawal serves to nurture man’s creative powers. The artist and scientist bring out of the dark void, like the mysterious universe itself, the unique, the strange and unexpected.       -Loren Eiseley

Join us to celebrate wilderness from the eyes of local artists. The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and Flathead National Forest present local artist’s work at the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell. Admire art produced in a wilderness setting from our exhibiting artists, bid on work made by area artisans in the silent auction, and mingle with other like-minded wilderness lovers. Sign up for our e-newletter (yellow button on top right) to get the latest information as we finalize details.

The Artist in Residence Program is sponsored by the US Forest Service, Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and Swan Ecosystem Center. Artists' work from this program will be on display at the October 5th event. Find more information about the Artist in Residence Program at the following link: http://hockadaymuseum.org/Events/AWC07.htm.

All proceeds from this event support the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation.
